I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately what with all the brouhaha surrounding the Porkulus bill and other asinine quests of those in Washington. It of course has got me too rambling quite a bit so I thought I might as well jot some of that babbling down.

My mother, much like yours I’m sure, was famous for hurling occasionally befuddling statements at us as kids. Things like;

“Am I talking to a brick wall?” “Are you deaf or something?” “Does anyone in this house listen?” See a pattern here? And of course the typical favorites; “Shut up and Answer me when I ask you a question!” “I hope someday you have children just like you” (careful this curse actually works)

There were always the really confusing ones such as; “Enough is enough!” Huh? And “If wishes were horses...” I’ve never heard the conclusion and I’m somewhat disturbed by how many wishes I may have wasted trying to figure that one out. “I've had it up to here with you.” Now that one would’ve been easier to avoid had she only once given us some inclination as to where the hell ‘here’ was.

There was the infamous “Don’t” list. A veritable cornucopia of kids desires simply round up into a parental manifesto of “absolutely not.”

“Don’t . . . eat that, you'll get worms! . . . Go out with a wet head, you'll catch cold. . . . Make me get up! . . . Run in the house. . . . Sit too close to the television; it'll ruin your eyes. . . . Walk away when I'm talking to you! . . . And on and on and on.

At times she would question or very sense of reality with such conviction us ourselves would take pause . . . “Who do you think you're talking to?” “Who do you think you are?”

Perhaps because of her faith in the aforementioned curse she had no doubt she could simply will things into existence . . . “You WILL eat it, and you WILL like it!”

There was the occasional “This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you.” Line, that remains a subject of great debate to this very day.

Eventually all of the day’s speeches were sure to be followed by the always faithful and dreaded . . . “You just wait until your FATHER gets home!”

This always brought immediate thoughts best described by Ralphie; “It was all over - I was dead. What would it be? The guillotine? Hanging? The chair? The rack? The Chinese water torture? Hmmph. Mere child's play compared to what surely awaited me.”

Your Impact: Give Yourself A “Thank You”, I’m Giving You One.

I wanted to take the time to sincerely thank any and all of you out there that participated in this election cycle. I thank those that were with us from the start, those that joined us in the end and everyone in-between.

I am saving my comments and thoughts regarding the outcome of the election, the future of our cause etc for a later post. This is simply a straight forward THANK YOU.

(for the record when I say we throughout this post I’m talking about YOU!)

In the past two years I have been lucky enough to meet folks all across this nation from every conceivable ethnic background and walk of life. I’ve communicated with you via, phone, internet, TV, Radio and even in person. Overall I am better off for it.

Often throughout this process doubts were present. Doubts about our abilities, or focus,

Our agenda, our purpose, our impact and practically everything else. I can assure you from the bottom of my heart there is no doubt.

For those that questioned our impact and all of the aforementioned let me just give you a bit of info to digest.

Collectively we posted 345,621 blog posts. (related to the mccain campaign etc) That is the most accurate number I have (and trust me I’ve done my best to keep close track) however I am quite certain the number is higher. Our first month in operation we increased McCain’s over-all online presence by 524%. It never fell again. We had articles, stories etc picked up by the Main Stream Media, TV, Print and Radio etc that otherwise never would’ve appeared there. Often we completely took over tracking sites such as Technorati, Wonkosphere and several others . . .we retained a strong presence on all throughout.

Before we lost the ability to directly track our contributions (as of January of 2008) we had contributed $116,000.00 dollars directly to the McCain campaign. Since we only grew and put forth stronger numbers and efforts from that point on I can safely assume that number rose dramatically. We also raised $4309.64 for various conservative/republican candidates around the country directly through slatecard, Along with another $3625.00 for candidates above and beyond that.

Over 64,400 people from around the country clicked on our link to make phone calls on behalf of the campaign. Many of us held phone banks periodically in our homes, made calls on our own or went to HQ above and beyond that.

Many of us were interviewed by or asked to write for or speak to the Main Stream Media,

Including FOX news, NBC, CBS, Columbia News Journal, Medill News, Hundreds of collegiate and high school news services, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, Dozens and dozens of radio programs, the BBC (many times) and the list goes on and on.

When the campaign was low on resources WE WERE THERE. In the NH primary we literally put 500 boots on the ground. These volunteers did everything a paid campaign normally covers. We single handedly won the NH primary for McCain which of course resulted in his attaining the nomination of the party.

When McCain began the no surrender tour it was from our ranks he pulled the veterans and volunteers, many of us road on that tour with him when he need us.

We contributed THOUSANDS of dollars directly out of pocket to cover expenses of our efforts, to help others etc. (I will not give the dollar amounts to protect those that wish to remain private etc).

We traveled around the country to battleground areas and areas in desperate need of additional support, typically on our own dime.

When the campaign was lacking in signage we took up the cause. We raised money for signs around the country. We shipped over 3000 signs in a two month period to states, areas that needed them. We shipped them in most cases without charging the receiving party. Often we even covered the shipping charges. Not including all of the stickers, hats and pins we sent out.

The campaign on numerous occasions implemented ‘our’ ideas and took ‘our’ advice.

(had they done it a lil’ more often perhaps we would’ve won . . . lol)

We also ran 21 Television commercials in KEY battleground areas around the country thanks to direct donations from YOU!

We created ‘groups’ in every state on facebook, google and other platforms. (over 800 affiliated groups, most set up by us directly!) From these groups 15 individuals were directly hired by the campaign (several others had offers and turned them down, but continued to volunteer anyhow!). Of those 15 directly hired 2 were at our request, 8 at our suggestion. One of these folks became part of McCain’s official personal advance team another one of Sarah Palin’s handlers.

The google groups (which ended with 745 members) were utilized directly by the McCain campaign for several months and we received several written messages thanking us for that use and the amazing results they achieved when using them. Often they found their ‘area’ leaders or boots on the ground folks directly from those groups. They stated that they always had a positive response and that every time they reached out via that avenue those folks ALWAYS showed up for them.

We had an amazing force of numbers and effort. Our contact list grew to over 700,000 during the course of this campaign. AMAZING! That is just staggering! That is from members of our various sites/blogs/groups/subscriptions etc. Millions upon millions of ‘hits’ and ‘visits’ to our sites,blogs,platforms. Hundreds of thousands of readers (sometimes for one blog). . . you truly reached the masses my friends.

Now I could go on and on boring you with details and numbers but I won’t. I just wanted to make sure you had at least a slight idea of the tremendous impact you had. We may not have won, but ultimately our accomplishment was astounding. We impacted the process. We insisted our voice be heard and succeeded. NEVER forget that.

The ‘battle’ may be over however the war rages on. The war for the heart and soul of our country has begun. Don’t start whispering now, do not hang your heads in shame, or storm away in anger and frustration. The sun came up on November 5^th, I saw it.

I am proud of what I did for the past three years. I am proud of all you have done. I am proud of the McCain family and am honored to count them among my friends, just as I do many of you.

So once again I offer you my most heart-felt and deepest thanks. I wish I had the time and energy to list and thank you all by name . . . I can not. Before I end however, I would like to give a special thanks to just a handful folks that went far above and beyond their call of duty . . .(there are many more, but bare with me)

LGTR also values you, your friends and others who are in this fight and commend yours and their efforts. Starting immediately, LGTR will begin work towards taking back control of the Congress in 2010. Ronald Reagan told his supporters upon the election of Jimmy Carter, that the time would be ripe for a major change in four years because America cannot abide socialism for long and to prepare immediately. The same effect happened with the Clinton Administration who lost control of Congress.

The New Hampshire Republican State Committee is filing a lawsuit against the New Hampshire Secretary of State, William Gardner, claiming that Republican election officials are purposefuly being kept away from new registration tables. Both Republicans and Democrats appoint election officials to ensure that neither party tries to tamper with votes or registration.

So Meghan did show up. I think it is important to realize the importance the campaign is putting on the volunteer grass roots and net roots effort. As Meghan says in the interview, she has been traveling around to campaign headquarters to thank and rally the troops.

Towards the end of the video you can hear Meghan saying she wanted to talk to me and we got a chance to as we rolled on the Straight Talk Express to Boston College.

What we talked about was GOTV efforts and how important they are in every campaign.

I snagged the picture above from Meghan's Blog. The caption was "Brad Marston McCain e-Campaign Coordinator." I wish I was. I think I have done some good for the McCain campaign but at the end of the day, I am just a guy who waves a sign, sends an e-mail or makes a phone call.

Across Michigan to Support Ad Campaign

[MICHIGAN] -- A federally registered independent political action committee has begun a $500,000+ television ad campaign in Michigan to support the McCain/Palin ticket and defeat the Obama/Biden campaign in the Great Lakes State.

The Our Country Deserves Better Committee (website: http://www.OurCountryDeservesBetter.com) is paying for the TV ad buy and sponsoring a "Stop Obama Tour" across the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan in an effort to win the state's 17 electoral votes for the McCain/Palin campaign. The "Stop Obama Tour" will conduct 9 rallies across Michigan from this Thursday (October 23rd) - Saturday (October 25th).

A series of television ads attacking Obama's liberal economic and foreign policy positions will air across Michigan and will incude two ads specifically produced for Michigan that highlight Sen. Obama's ties to unpopular Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, disgraced former Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, as well as other controversial Obama associates including Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko and domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers.

"Since Senator Obama and Senator McCain have pulled most of their advertising dollars out of Michigan, we felt we were in a unique position to have a major impact on the final days of this election campaign here in the state," said Howard Kaloogian, Chairman of the Our Country Deserves Better Committee.

Our Country Deserves Better spokesman, radio talk show host Mark Williams, said that Michigan voters must reject the same disastrous policies of Democratic Governor Jennifer Granhom, that Senator Obama now threatens to inflict upon the state's residents were he to occupy the Oval Office.

"The Democratic leadership in Michigan has failed the people of the Great Lakes State, and Senator Obama as promised to deliver these same failed policies to all of America if he is elected president. Higher taxes, big government spending, and redistribution of wealth have hurt Michigan, and the voters of this state have the chance to reject these policies and embrace the hope and opportunity that a McCain/Palin administration would bring to Michigan," Williams said.

Also traveling with the tour across Michigan will be national pro-troop leader, Deborah Johns, whose son, Marine Sgt. William Johns, has served several tours of duty in the War on Terror, including three tours in Iraq alone.

"Senator Obama has not been faithful to our troops or our military families. Michigan voters know that a McCain/Palin administration would be led by two people who will honor the service and sacrifice of our troops. Senator McCain and Governor Palin both have children who are serving this nation in the United States military, and they know that our troops need our support for their missions in this dangerous world where unstable dictators and violent regimes threaten our nation's security," Johns said.

At each rally in Michigan, attendees will hear the powerful and moving vocals of singer/songwriter, Lloyd Marcus, a black conservative who has penned a tribute song honoring Gov. Sarah Palin.

"It makes me so mad when I hear Obama's supporters implying that it is racist to not vote for Barack Obama. No, that is wrong! It is racist to vote for this man simply because of the color of his skin, when he is the wrong man with the wrong policies for the job of president and leader of the Free World," Mr. Marcus said.

The McCain/Palin campagin needs our help, friends, and they need our help IMMEDIATELY.

The New York Times and other media outlets are reporting on the $150 million Barack Obama raised in September (on top of the $66 million he raised in August), and how he used that money to flood the airwaves in key battleground states over the past month to run up his poll numbers.

Obama "swamped" McCain in ad spending by a 4-to-1 margin, and in some states the margin over McCain was even higher.

Obama, the Democratic candidate, is now running at least four times as much advertising nationwide as his Republican rival, John McCain, according to CMAG, a service that monitors political advertising. That difference is even larger in several closely contested states.

While Obama's decision to forgo the matching funds - and the limits that come with them - has given him a spending advantage throughout the election, his television dominance has become most apparent in the past few weeks as he has gone on a buying binge that has allowed him to utterly swamp McCain's campaign with concurrent lines of positive and negative messages.

Since McCain is limited under public financing laws as to how much he can raise and spend - whereas Obama can raise and spend unlimited funds since he went without matching funds - it is critically important for groups like the Our Country Deserves Better Committee to step in to help bring a balance to the TV ad wars.

This is why we must continue to ask our supporters to make donations to our TV ad fund. Over 150,000 people will receive this email you are reading right now. Imagine the impact we can make if all of us make a contribution to our anti-Obama/pro-McCain/Palin ad campaign.

How Many Lies Can Obama Tell About Keating Economics

So I got an e-mail Monday morning [excerpts below] from Obama Campaign puppet master David Plouffe announcing that they would be releasing a 13 minute “documentary”, “Keating Economics: John McCain and the Making of a Financial Crisis.” I was curious how many lies of commission and omission the Obama campaign could fit into a single short e-mail.

Now I didn’t expect Plouffe to mention that Barack Obama has received in three years, five times the political donations from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that John McCain has received in twenty years. I didn’t expect Plouffe to explain what Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bought with those payments.

Over the weekend, John McCain's top adviser announced their plan to stop engaging in a debate over the economy and "turn the page" to more direct, personal attacks on Barack Obama.

Okay. According to RealClearPolitics it wasn’t McCain’s top adviser and what he said was "looking to turning the page on this financial crisis and getting back to discussing Mr. Obama's liberal, aggressively liberal, record and how he will be too risky for the Americans." I guess talking about Senator Obama’s record is a personal attack. I mean he did personally establish his record as a hard left liberal.

In the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great
Depression, they want to change the subject from the central question of this election. Perhaps because the policies McCain supported these past eight years and wants to continue are pretty hard to defend.

Well that is demonstrably false as we are not “in the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.” While we are at risk of it, the worst economic crisis since the great depression is still the stagflation brought on by the Carter economic policies when home foreclosure rates were higher than they are today.

Actually John McCain supported greater oversight and regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac both in 2003 and 2006. John McCain had the foresight to predict the crisis that led to the Government bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Obama’s buddy, Senator Chris Dodd wouldn’t even let the bill out of committee.

But it's not just McCain's role in the current crisis that they're avoiding. The backward economic philosophy and culture of corruption that helped create the current crisis are looking more and more like the other major financial crisis of our time.

Actually over regulation and misguided regulation caused this crisis.

During the savings and loan crisis of the late '80s and early '90s, McCain's political favors and aggressive support for deregulation put him at the center of the fall of Lincoln Savings and Loan, one of the largest in the country. More than 23,000 investors lost their savings.

Actually John McCain was never at the “center of the fall of Lincoln Savings and Loan”.
The Senate Ethics Committee probe of the Keating Five began in November 1990 and committee Special Counsel Robert Bennett [a Democrat] recommended that McCain and Glenn be dropped from the investigation. They were not. McCain believes Democrats on the committee blocked Bennett's recommendation because he was the lone Keating Five Republican.

I also find it interesting how Plouffe tries to spin the phrase “investors lost their savings” implying that people with savings accounts lost money (They didn’t as they were FSLIC insured.) and unless Mr. Plouffe knows all the investors personally, I am not sure he can also imply that they lost all of their savings.

Plouffe also doesn’t mention that the policies of Obama, helping to block stricter oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac has already cost the government billions of dollars and investors have lost over $60 billion of their savings in the last year alone with the collapse of FNMA common and preferred stock.

Overall, the savings and loan crisis required the federal government to
bail out the savings of hundreds of thousands of families and ultimately cost American taxpayers $124 billion.

Sound familiar?

In that crisis, John McCain and his political patron, Charles Keating,
played central roles that ultimately landed Keating in jail for fraud and McCain in front of the Senate Ethics Committee.

After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that Alan Cranston, Dennis DeConcini, and Donald Riegle had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation of Lincoln Savings, with Cranston receiving a formal reprimand. Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment".

[Plouffe fails to mention that it was only Democratic Senators who were found to have acted improperly and in fact all three chose to not run for re-election.]

And this time, McCain's bankrupt economic philosophy has put our economy at the brink of collapse and put millions of Americans at risk of losing their homes.

Actually again, no. It was the policies of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and Barack Obama that have put millions of American’s at risk of losing their homes. Of course, most of those people couldn’t really afford those homes in the first place.

If Barack Obama through David Plouffe can tell that many lies about John McCain in a short e-mail, I wonder how many he can tell in a 13 minute documentary.

But of course neither Plouffe or Obama will tell you that.

Enough people, most of them smarter than me, have posted and/or pontificated on the results of Friday night’s debate that I am not going to spend a lot of time analyzing it.

I’ll put in my quick two cents worth. John McCain probably lost by showing up after suggesting that he wouldn’t and Barack Obama probably won by not losing.

Now maybe Steve Schmidt, Rick Davis and Marc Salter convinced McCain that he couldn’t afford to give Barack Obama 90 minutes of free uninterrupted air time. Maybe McCain decided that the MSM would play his not appearing as a negative or perhaps the negotiations on the financial restructuring were at a point where his staying in Washington wouldn’t have been that helpful, either to the negotiations or his campaign. Personally, I would have liked to see McCain stick to his guns but what do I know.

that the current economic situation is a bipartisan issue and requires
serious attention.

As President Ronald Reagan once said "You and I are told we must
choose between a left, or right, but I suggest there is no such thing
as a left or right. There is only an up or down."

We at "Let's Get this Right" agree with that statement and we
recognize that the US economy is in enormous trouble. This includes
Wall Street, the US Government, and every American living on
main-street; no one is immune to the impact of the current economic
situation.

When Wall Street needs help it turns to the government, when the
government needs help it turns to the American people and when the
American people need help, it is often too late for us to obtain help
because the government has already over spent the tax dollars, fees
and fines it collects as part of its daily function.

When it needs money for a spending bill, or a financial bailout, the
government either cuts spending somewhere, shifts spending
temporarily, raises taxes on the American people or simply prints more
money.

Sadly, when it prints more money much of it is backed by foreign
governments and investors from countries such as Saudi Arabia, China
and others which do not share our interests, our constitutional
heritage, or our core values.

Regardless, we the people cannot afford to continue to allow the
current reckless spending practices used in Washington, nor should we
allow our country to be in debt or beholding to other nations.
Especially when the average American?s yearly income is on the decline
from which we must all pay for our taxes, insurance, gas,
transportation, groceries, housing, clothing, etc.

So "Let's Get This Right!"

We the undersigned DEMAND that members of the US House of
Representatives, the US Senate and the US President immediately pledge
to commit to the following;

- STOP Any and all deficit spending that is unrelated national defense
until the US budget is balanced.

- START investigating the roll that corporate executives, lobbyists
and politicians played in the current economic downfall to include the
use of subpoena power, and criminal prosecution where necessary.

- CONTINUE to follow these steps until anyone directly connected with
the current economic downfall is no longer in a position to do so
again; especially those who directly benefited from quid pro quo
activity, including political advocacy, legislative action, or
"sweetheart deals" such as low interest loans and campaign donations.

It is time to get back to basics. We the people could not operate our
personal budgets the way that corporations or the federal government
have without ending up out of work and in jail. We the people are not
above the law and those in positions of power should not be either.

If anyone was wondering why Barack Obama has declined to participate in a series of Town Hall meetings with John McCain, they need to look no further than the relative performances at this past weekends Saddleback Civil Forum.

Senator Obama when asked about abortion said that those theological and legal questions were above his pay grade. This from a man that was a lecturer on constitutional law at the University of Chicago. With all due respect to Senator Obama I would suggest that rather than being above his pay grade, having an opinion on the core issue behind (rightly or wrongly) 36 year old settled case law on abortion is minimum wage work for a US President.

If you can't express an opinion about an issue that has been studied and discussed for 50+ years, how are you going to make a decision about unforseen issues that will confront this country over the next 4 years...or 8 to 10 years as Senator Obama has suggested.

While the Main Stream Media has been playing out the narrative "Obama reaches out to evangelicals" the headline and lead story in every newspaper and broadcast media outlet should have been "Obama gets his ass kicked in quasi debate forum."

Granted the videos below are from MSNBC so they don't show the best of McCain and the worst of Obama but I include them for anyone (such as myself) who were not able to watch the event live.

MSNBC's Keith Obermann who "chastises" Senator McCain complains that "McCain was not in the 'cone of silence.' Note to Keith...Get Smart was a comedy show and not a documentary on the CIA. There isn't actually a 'Cone of Silence' and even if there was and McCain was supposed to be in it, that doesn't explain why MSNBC's chosen candidate, the man who makes Chris Matthew's pants tingle, can't answer simple questions much less complex ones.

Honestly, I am just the catalyst to this grassroots conservative
movement that seemed not to have any orchestration. I like to call myself the
glorified custodian of the Grizzly Groundswell. It is truly an open market that
if not utilized, your blog and the conservative message will not be rewarded
with action and results. yet many strong, brilliant and motivated individuals
all yearning for a place to unite with similar folk that all are motivated in
expressing our different, but so similar conservative ideals, values and goals
for this great shining city on a hill have utilized this unique blogosphere
concept! It is too those individual that I owe all the praise, adoration and
thanks for making this possible.

I have been so blessed over this last year. I have met fast friends and
gained some amusing socialist squirrel enemies along the way. The enemies of the
Grizzly Groundswell, those fluffy little tailed socialist squirrels understand
my great grandfather defeated them once before and I am here to do the same.

My great grandfather did make one mistake. He dismantled his IVA
association after the historic recall and demise of the Socialist Non Partisan
Party and did not equip the next generations to keep socialist squirrels chased
out of our beloved institutions and our government. However, being a descendant
who took the time to research his strategic and heroic story, I now understand
what it will takes to once again bring the socialists squirrels to their knees.
I will be sharing with you some of my strategy and my vision for the Grizzly
Groundswells future.

Together, we are going to leave an institution that will forever educate,
unite and battle socialist squirrels for generations to come. We will never
vanquish this socialist, communist, Nazi fascist and radical sin or sickness
from humanity because as an idealism it is a seductive and persuasive deception
that the human slothfulness will always embrace if uneducated to its deadly
threat.

The key to defeating socialist squirrels is unity, motivation,
determination and education of the seductive deception socialism is by exposing
its despotism and corruption. Socialism always walks hand in hand with tyranny
and corruption. This is the threat and it's weakness. When good men and women do
nothing is when this evil takes hold and eats away at even a great country such
as ours like a cancer. We must remove it at every turn with surgical accuracy
through exposing the corruption and tyranny that always follow.

I can not do this alone. E. W. Everson did not do it alone. Nationwide,
good men and women stood alongside him and fought shoulder to shoulder for the
hearts and minds of the American people. We must do the same thing night and day
as we are doing on the Grizzly Groundswell!

I will also layout our exciting Grizzly Groundswell strategy for
covering the the Republican National Convention right here in St. Paul, MN, my

"Just tell me one thing Barack Obama has done that you admire," I asked a prominent Democrat. He paused and then said that he admired Obama's speech to the Democratic convention in 2004. I agreed. It was a hell of a speech, but it was just a speech.

On the other hand, I continued, I could cite four or five actions -- not speeches -- that John McCain has taken that elicit my admiration, even my awe. First, of course, is his decision as a Vietnam prisoner of war to refuse freedom out of concern that he would be exploited for
propaganda purposes. To paraphrase what Kipling said about Gunga Din, John McCain is a better man than most.

But I would not stop there. I would include campaign finance reform, which infuriated so many in his own party; opposition to earmarks, which won him no friends; his politically imprudent opposition to the Medicare prescription drug bill (Medicare has about $35 trillion in unfunded obligations); and, last but not least, his very early call for additional troops in Iraq. His was a lonely position -- virtually suicidal for an all-but-certain presidential candidate and no help when his campaign nearly expired last summer. In all these cases, McCain stuck to his guns.

Obama argues that he himself stuck to the biggest gun of all: opposition to the war. He took that position when the war was enormously popular, the president who initiated it was even more popular and critics of both were slandered as unpatriotic. But at the time, Obama was a mere Illinois state senator, representing the (very) liberal Hyde Park area of Chicago. He either voiced his conscience or his district's leanings or (lucky fella) both. We will never know.

And we will never know, either, how Obama might have conducted himself had he served in Congress as long as McCain has. Possibly he would have earned a reputation for furious, maybe even sanctimonious, integrity of the sort that often drove McCain's colleagues to dark thoughts of senatorcide, but the record -- scant as it is -- suggests otherwise. Obama is not noted for sticking to a position or a person once that position or person becomes a political liability. (Names available upon request.)

All politicians change their positions, sometimes even because they have changed their minds. McCain must have suffered excruciating whiplash from totally reversing himself on George Bush's tax cuts. He has denounced preachers he later embraced and then, to his chagrin, has had to denounce them all over again. This plasticity has a label: pandering. McCain knows how it's done.

But Obama has shown that in this area, youth is no handicap. He has been for and against gun control, against and for the recent domestic surveillance legislation and, in almost a single day, for a united Jerusalem under Israeli control and then, when apprised of U.S. policy and Palestinian chagrin, against it. He is an accomplished pol -- a statement of both admiration and a bit of regret.

Obama is often likened to John F. Kennedy. The comparison makes sense. He has the requisite physical qualities -- handsome, lean, etc. -- plus wit, intelligence, awesome speaking abilities and a literary bent. He also might be compared to Franklin D. Roosevelt for many of those same qualities. Both FDR and JFK were disparaged early on by their contemporaries for, I think, doing the difficult and making it look easy. Eleanor Roosevelt, playing off the title of Kennedy's Pulitzer Prize-winning book, airily dismissed him as more profile than courage. Similarly, it was Walter Lippmann's enduring misfortune to size up FDR and belittle him: Roosevelt, he wrote, was "a pleasant man who, without any important qualifications for office, would very much like to be president." Lippmann later recognized that he had underestimated Roosevelt.

My guess is that Obama will make a fool of anyone who issues such a judgment about him. Still, the record now, while tissue thin, is troubling. The next president will have to be something of a political Superman, a man of steel who can tell the American people that they will have to pay more for less -- higher taxes, lower benefits of all kinds -- and deal in an ugly way when nuclear weapons seize the imagination of madmen.

The question I posed to that prominent Democrat was just my way of thinking out loud. I know that Barack Obama is a near-perfect political package. I'm still not sure, though, what's in it.

"Mr. Obama said the country is facing an 'economic emergency,' and convened an hours-long meeting with economic advisers Monday, but Laura Tyson, former chairman of the National Economic Council, said the record deficit was not specifically mentioned. 'We actual ly didn't discuss the number that came out today,' she told reporters, adding that participants instead talked about adding extra spending on roads and other infrastructure that, Democrats hope, will boost the sluggish economy. Obama Is Committed To Budget-Busting Deficit Spending:

Obama Told Reporters He Won't Promise To Reduce The Deficit By 2013. "'I do not make a promise that we can reduce it by 2013 because I think it is important for us to make some critical investments right now in America's families,' Obama told reporters this week when asked if he'd match McCain's pledge." (Nedra Pickler, "Analysis: Obama Won't Try For McCain's Budget Goal," The Associated Press, 7/8/08)

Obama Also Said He Wouldn't Be Able To Eliminate The Deficit In Eight Years. Obama: "Now I want to go ahead and tell you the truth, which is, we
will not eliminate the deficit or the national debt in the next four years, or even in the next eight years." (Sen. Barack Obama, Remarks At A Campaign Event, Fairfax, VA, 7/10/08)

Obama Said He Didn't Want To Make "A Fetish Of Perfectly Balancing The Federal Budget." Obama: "I am a progressive, but I always tell people that if you're a progressive you should be fiscally even more conservative than the so-called conservative. ... On the one hand I'm a strong believer in fiscal responsibility, on the other hand we actually have to make some significant investments in order to keep our economy competitive, and, uh, so what I want to do is institute some basic principles that will move us in the direction of fiscal responsibility, without making a fetish of perfectly balancing the federal budget." Yesterday, Obama Adviser Laura Tyson Struggled To Provide An Example Of How Obama Would Reduce The Deficit; Finally Said His Health Care Plan Would Be "A Major Part Of Deficit Reduction":

Obama Adviser Laura Tyson Finally Said Implementing Obama's Health Care Plan Would Reduce The Budget Deficit. Blitzer: "Give me an example of how Senator Obama is going to cut the deficit." Obama Adviser Laura Tyson: "I really think it's important here to make a distinction -- okay, I will. You need to define for me, Wolf, which deficit you're talking about." Blitzer: "The budget deficit. The budget deficit." Tyson: "No, no, no, no, no, Wolf, as you know first of all there is a structural budget deficit and cyclical budget deficit." Blitzer: "Explain how he's going to cut either one of those. Just explain how he's going to cut the deficit." Tyson: "I'm about to, I'm about to. The structural budget deficit, the biggest driver of the structural budget deficit over the next 20 years is health care, is health care, and he has a meaningful health care reform that is paid for, if the meaningful health care reform is enacted it will bring down the structural deficit. That is a major part of deficit reduction." (CNN's "The Situation Room," 7/28/08)

But Obama's Assumed Health Care Savings Of Nearly $120 Billion Is An "Unrealistically High" And "Extremely Optimistic" Assumption. "There are legitimate questions about both the Clinton and Obama plans: in particular whether they make unrealistically low assumptions about the ultimate price tag (Ms. Clinton puts hers at $110 billion annually; Mr. Obama says his will cost $50 billion to $65 billion) and unrealistically high assumptions about how much they can save by bringing costs under control (Ms. Clinton credits her plan with $56 billion; Mr. Obama claims an extremely optimistic $120 billion.) The Democratic candidates' time would be better spent explaining how their visions are achievable, not taking potshots at each other." (Editorial, "The Mandate Debate," The Washington Post, 3/4/08)

Emory University Professor Kenneth Thorpe Said Obama Underestimated The Cost Of His Health Care Plan; It Could Cost Over $100 Billion A Year. "Emory University Professor Kenneth Thorpe analyzed the proposals and concluded that taxpayers would pick up a $50 billion annual tab. According to Thorpe, the actual cost of [Obama's] proposal would exceed $100 billion a year... Actual federal spending under the Obama plan could be higher than his estimate, Thorpe said. 'That $50 billion is really assuming that everything is really up and fully implemented,' he said, and parts of the plan would take more than five years to put into place." NOTE: Laura Tyson Also Implied That Obama Would Make No Effort To Reduce The Deficit In His First Year In Office. Tyson: "If you ask me how he's going to reduce the deficit next year, what I will say is that in a bipartisan group of business, labor, academics, there was consensus that the economy needs stimulus. The immediate focus is on stimulating the economy, not on deficit reduction." (CNN's "The Situation Room," 7/28/08)

Obama's Spending Agenda Will Burden American Taxpayers:

Obama Claims He Pays For Everything He Proposes. Obama: "We account for every single dollar that we propose." (Sen. Barack Obama, CNN Democrat Presidential Candidates Debate, Myrtle Beach, SC, 1/21/08)

But Obama Doesn't "Come Close To Meeting This Standard." "[Obama] has rhetorically committed to a 'pay-as-you-go' approach by offsetting new spending and tax cuts with new taxes or spending cuts, but his proposals do not come close to meeting this standard." (John Maggs, "Obama On The Economy," The National Journal, 5/31/08)

PolitiFact Blows Out Obama's Claim That His Proposals Are Paid For; Says His Rhetoric Is "Disingenuous." "Until he fleshes out his economic plan considerably more, it's disingenuous to go around claiming his proposals are 'paid for.' And that claim is even more suspect considering that his proposals would leave a larger deficit than would the tax laws currently on the books. We find his claim to be Barely True." The New York Times' David Brooks Said For Obama To Fund His Domestic Programs, He Will Have To Break His Pledge Not To Tax The Middle Class. "Both [Obama and Clinton] promised to not raise taxes on those making less than $200,000 or $250,000 a year. They both just emasculated their domestic programs. Returning the rich to their Clinton-era tax rates will yield, at best, $40 billion a year in revenue. It's impossible to fund a health care plan, let alone anything else, with that kind of money. The consequences are clear: if elected they will have to break their pledge, and thus destroy their credibility, or run a minimalist administration." Obama's Economic Policy Director, Jason Furman, Said Obama Hadn't Been Specific About Funding Certain Proposals:

The Wall Street Journal Reports...

The Obama camp said they canceled the event after the Pentagon ruled it was a campaign event, and needed to be funded from the senator’s election kitty.

“Senator Obama did not want to have a trip to see our wounded warriors perceived as a campaign event when his visit was to show his appreciation for our troops and decided instead not to go,” Obama advisor, retired Gen. Scott Gration, said in a statement.

How about visiting the troops without the media tagging along, then it wouldn't look like a campaign event. Senator Obama is spending $5 on advertising during the Olympics, but won't visit wounded soldiers on his campaign's dime? Apparently, it's more important for him to have the media take pictures of him at the Ritz Carlton gym lifting weights, than to take a moment leave the press behind and talk to the people who defend this country.

NBC and Hot Air are now confirming that Obama did not visit the troops because press would not be allowed to also attend.

This year, Barack Obama returned to the United States Senate twice to vote in favor of a budget resolution which raises income tax rates by three percentage points for the 25, 28 and 33 percent tax brackets. This would mean a tax increase for those earning as little as $32,000.

While Barack Obama campaigns on a promise of no tax hikes for anyone but the rich, we once again find that his words are empty when it comes time to act. In both March and June, Barack Obama could have put the force of his vote behind his words. Instead, he decided that "rich" now means those making just $32,000 per year.

Over the past several weeks, Barack Obama has made it increasingly difficult to take him at his word on anything. After pledging to accept public financing, he decided not to. After saying he would debate "anywhere, anytime," he decided against participating in any of the ten joint town hall meetings. After backing the D.C. handgun ban, he now says it was unconstitutional. After pledging to filibuster the FISA bill, he voted for it. He is running ads taking credit for welfare reform that he opposed. He is claiming to be bipartisan even though he has never voted against his party on any major issue. He has backtracked on trade. He has backtracked on abortion. And last week for the space of several hours, he held the position that he would listen to our commanders in Iraq if they say we need to stay longer to secure the gains of the surge.

All this political "refining" has resulted in a credibility gap. Since we can no longer simply take Barack Obama at his word, we are left to examine his actions.

Based on his actions and votes, Barack Obama is going to raise taxes on nearly every American. If you make over $32,000 per year, Barack Obama has voted to raise your taxes. If you own stocks, Barack Obama has a plan to raise your taxes. During the primary, he proposed lifting the cap on income subject to Social Security taxation. He has proposed to repeat the failed Windfall Profits Tax and new taxes on natural gas and coal. He is going to raise taxes on small businesses. There is no group rich, poor or other who will not be adversely impacted by his tax increases.

Even more troubling, Barack Obama has proposed increasing Washington spending and expanding government programs while failing to outline how he will pay for his proposals. Where will Barack Obama make up the difference? Unfortunately, we already know the answer. If we ignore his words and look at his record, he will not hesitate to tax any Americans at any income level.

This is a question of credibility. And on ensuring that we can grow our economy by keeping taxes low and more money in the pockets of taxpayers, Barack Obama's record of action shows that his words are empty.

Senator Obama said in a speech yesterday that Senator McCain's proposal for off-shore drilling "makes absolutely no sense at all" because it would not bring any appreciable savings in gasoline until 2030.(Boston Globe, Saturday 6/21/2008 Pg. A6)

Aside from the fact that is incorrect, it got me asking myself what other things Barack Obama thinks we shouldn't do because the benefits are a few years down the road.

I guess he thinks we shouldn't invest in new energy technologies because workable solutions such as hydrogen powered cars, large scale solar or wind energy projects won't be viable for at least a decade.

I guess he thinks we shouldn't do cancer, Parkinson's, AIDS or other basic medical research because cures are at least a decade away.

I guess negotiating or dealing with Iran is out as some security experts say that they are at least a decade away from developing a workable and deliverable nuclear device.

I guess he thinks we shouldn't do anything about air pollution or greenhouse gases since the worst effects (assuming they exist) aren't predicted to occur for decades.

I reasonably sure that prosecuting the war against Radical Islamic Extremists is out given that we won't be able to win in less than a decade.

For a guy who spends a lot of time pontificating about "change" and "the future" he sure seems to have a short time frame for what change can occur in the future. I would love to hear his explanation but I am assuming he thinks he shouldn't do that.

David Brook's excellent article The Two Obama's does an excellent job laying out how Senator Obama talks reform and inspiration, but plays old school politics as well as anyone out there...

Last night at an Obama rally in Detroit, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, who had previously endorsed Senator Clinton, took to the stage to show her solidarity with Barack Obama now that the voters (or the party insiders as the case may be) have handed him the nomination. But Granholm, like Team McCain, still seems to hold Senator Clinton in high esteem--she tried to praise the former first lady as a "great American."

She couldn't even get the words out before the crowd turned on her and began booing. Here's the tape, watch it for yourself. We just want to assure Senator Clinton's supporters that their attendance at McCain rallies will be warmly recieved, by Senator McCain and his supporters. Of course, if Senator Clinton wants to show up to any of our events in person...consider this an open invitation.

Obama's Foul Tricks In Texas

"...I was a volunteer field organizer in El Paso, Texas and investigated irregularities for three weeks after the election.

As a Democratic Coordinated Campaign Regional Director in 1996 and as a volunteer on campaigns in the 1990s, I have the ethical obligation to report what I saw in Texas.

When California 22nd CD Republican candidate Tom Bordonaro famously tried to suppress the vote by phone banking under a false name, many of us in the Capps campaign immediately said that we would walk away from a campaign if our side were similarly unethical. That moment kept replaying through my head election night in El Paso. Simply put, the Obama campaign made Tom Bordonaro look ethical.

Lois Capps is correct when she wrote that Sen. Obama is inspiring. However, many of the actions of his campaign that I witnessed and investigated are criminal.

I know this information is jarring, and puts DNC delegates in an uncomfortable situation, but if the time comes for delegates to endorse or get behind a consensus candidate, this information should be available. As I wrote to Rep. Capps, I apologize for not illuminating this earlier.

My observations in Texas were that caucuses were broadly illegitimate. In a few well-run counties, Hillary's caucus vote was the same or better than the popular vote, but in chaotic counties, she fell behind by double digits. While Texas is the only state to have both a binding popular vote and a caucus vote, we saw similar results in Washington State, where Obama's numbers plunged in the unofficial primary compared to the caucuses .

This stands out: only four major Texas counties were orderly enough to report most of their caucus results election night, and in three of these, caucus preference mirrored the popular vote (HRC popular/caucus): El Paso (69/75), Austin/Travis (37/34), San Antonio/Bexar (56/57). In the case of Austin, I have read reports that that both sides ran their caucuses well.

These counties had exceptional organizations, but it should not take heroics to run a fair election.

On election night in El Paso, it became obvious that the Obama field campaign was designed to steal caucuses. Prior to that, it was impossible for me to imagine the level of attempted fraud and disruption we would see. It was far worse than any GOP campaign I have organized against on the Central Coast, worse than Tom Bordonaro's, worse than Andrea Seastrand's, worse than the Dole campaign whose supporters vandalized our headquarters.

We saw stolen precincts where Obama organizers fabricated counts, made false entries on sign-in sheets, suppressed delegate counts, and suppressed caucus voters. We saw patterns such as missing electronic access code sheets and precinct packets taken before the legal time, like elsewhere in the state. Obama volunteers illegally took convention materials state-wide, with attempts as early as 6:30 am. Some of this was presented in a press release from Clinton Campaign Counsel Lyn Utrecht, but I witnessed worse than what she disclosed.

In one example of fraud that I witnessed, one of my precinct captains, an elderly Hispanic woman, called me to report that BHO supporters had illegally seized control of the convention. During our series of phone calls, Mrs. "A." reported that the Obama people took the convention materials and did not have a legal election of officers. Like nearly all of El Paso, BHO people would have lost such an election in this majority-Hillary, Hispanic, mostly elderly precinct convention.

The Obama people ordered Mrs. A. to sit across the room during the delegate calculation, and excluded Hillary supporters from the process. Mrs. A. overheard an Obama supporter call in a false delegate count to Austin. In a 13 delegate precinct where Obama should have won approximately 4 delegates, the Obama supporters attempted to award 19 delegates to Obama. This was not innocent. During my attempts at cell phone diplomacy, the Obama "chair" hung up on me, and refused to talk to the ethical Obama organizer I was paired with at another precinct convention. As with all major attempts at fraud that we identified, this delegate count was rectified in private at the county TDP headquarters, according to TDP rules, but there were no public charges or sanctions. It is my opinion that people should be in jail, but there is not a mechanism for this sort of prosecution, certainly not within TDP rules.

Although I have only volunteered in one state, virtually every Clinton staffer I have talked to has similar stories from other caucus states. While the Hillary field campaign operates and feels very much like typical Democratic campaigns, the Obama campaign is something new to Democratic politics. From my perspective, it looks like it has copied the worst attributes of Republican campaigns, but with unprecedented zeal.

Ironically, only in very well-organized areas like El Paso were we able to even identify the scale of the attempted irregularities. In these areas, we were also able to rebuff most attempts at fraud, correct fraudulent delegate counts, and protect our voters. In less well-organized areas, we did not have enough eyes and ears to identify or stop fraud, and our numbers plunged.

Although affidavits have not been made public, I have copies and records of the voter complaints for which I did interviews. Although the Hillary campaign has not gone public with evidence of fraud, the national legal team has approximately 200 such affidavits and 2000 voter complaints. The campaign intends to win the popular vote without airing these charges in public, but I suspect the campaign will provide authorities with this evidence upon request.

My own sense is that this information should not be withheld from delegates, since it both casts the Obama campaign as stunningly unethical, and it severely undermines the general credibility of caucuses. It also points out that perception and reality are upside down. The campaign that will "do anything to win," including the illegal acts documented in affidavits, is not Hillary's...."

Do any of you remember a few years back when the Discovery Channel aired it’s special

“Raising The Mammoth?” Well, I sure as hell do.

I don’t remember exactly how long Discovery promoted this much anticipated television event but it sure as heck seemed like it went on for at least a year. They had advertisements in every issue of their magazine, during every commercial break on their network. They had intense, dramatic and very well produced TV ads running on practically any channel you ‘clicked’ to. They advertised in news-papers, radio, flyers . . .they even got local papers to pick up the story.

As the “television event”, (and that is what they built it into, an actual ‘event’) drew near the ads became even more intense. TV ads were turned into “mini-epics”. The “promotion” of this “Mammoth Event” seemed to dwarf any and all programming on TV for the entire season. The phrasing and verbiage changed as well.

Discovery began by “suggesting” you would or should watch. They suggested “others” would be watching. They “implied” it could be a “television event”. They suggested the program would change TV, change your thinking!

Around the last month of the promotion and “hype” they were literally “Telling You” that you “could not miss this television event!” They were “telling you” that you were going to watch. They were telling you that “The World” would be watching. They were telling you that is was going to “change your thinking . . . forever!”

The Secret of My.BarackObama.com? eGroups!

Ever since the kerfuffle on MyBO earlier this week, I've been spending a little time poking around the site. I even cross-posted something to get the hang of it.

MyBO is often credited in mainstream media with helping build Obama's remarkable volunteer operation. At the same time, the conventional wisdom among webbies is that internal social networks don't work. Nobody wants to create yet another profile (particularly on a site with such a limited audience), and best to concentrate your energies on existing social networks like Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn.

My initial runthrough found many ways in which MyBO failed to live up to the hype, including:

The friending feature, which is at the core of most social networks, is nearly useless. I may have been a stranger in a strange land, but I couldn't find anyone on the site whom I'd have liked to "friend." By contrast, today's nichiest social networks, like Brightkite, Mento, and FriendFeed, make it easy to find dozens of people you already know by offering a contact importer (where you import your Gmail/Yahoo/AOL/etc. address books to see who else is already online). Chris Hughes, MyBO's primary manager (and Facebook co-founder) only has 153 friends, the network average for all of Facebook.
User blogs seems like kind of a throwaway feature. There is a single page with the latest posts in reverse chronological order, and that's pretty much it in terms of discoverability -- no posts in the sidebar of every MyBO page or latest comments as in Drupal/Scoop/SoapBlox. There have also only been 11,460 user blog posts off a base of over 800,000 user accounts, suggesting most people don't waste their time with maintaining a blog on the site. By contrast, in the first two weeks of The Next Right we've produced 480 user blogs from 806 registered users, a more than 1 to 2 ratio of user blogs to users.
Personal fundraising pages are a really nice touch -- but not a game-changer in terms of money raised. The largest groups on the site had only raised in the hundreds of dollars for Obama. Even if we're charitable and allow $1 million raised through all such pages, that's a drop in the bucket compared to the tens of millions raised through e-mail, the website, and Google AdWords landing pages. This may be an example of the vaunted "long tail" being a great talking point but little more. People still find it easiest to give based on a direct appeal from the top.

Despite all this, My.BarackObama.com still works, and it's not because recreated the features of a social network. If they've succeeded, it's because they've harkened back to the early days of the web, to the primary way that the online grassroots connected with each other before blogs: e-mail groups.

Groups are probably MyBO's most powerful feature, with over 16,000 of them created. Most crucially, there are 6,639 local Obama groups. You won't see many mega-groups of the "Million Strong" variety. But you will see local activist groups in virtually every state -- often at the county and town level -- with hundreds of members each. Bucks County for Obama, Colorado Springs for Obama, Philly for Obama, and Tucson for Obama are just a few that reach that threshold.

When one joins the groups, it's not just a casual connection. You are automatically opted in for a discussion list a la a Yahoo or a Google group, the underlying feature set of which has not changed since the late '90s. In fact the title of this post is a throwback to that era, to the eGroups service (that later became Yahoo Groups) that I used to create the Bush 2000 mailing list that is still in existence today. This isn't rocket science. This stuff been around for more than a decade.

For group creators, the ability to mass message all your group's members is the key value proposition behind social networking groups. This why groups with up to 1,200 members on Facebook are useful and can get a response as powerful as e-mail -- but you turn into a pumpkin once you reach 1,200 and messaging is shut off.

MyBO is even more powerful because the messaging is not one-way -- it's a community where anyone can reply. And the messages contain useful information for the local activist -- reminders about local events, news from activists campaigning for delegate slots, even links to on-message videos -- all in the most familiar format available: e-mail. I've reproduced a sample message from my local Falls Church for Obama group below.

When you think about it, this is the kind of networking feature that it makes sense for campaigns to offer. Unlike a Facebook, your sense of connection to an e-group is not tied to the underlying technology but to the group itself. It doesn't matter as much if it's a Yahoo Group, a Google Group, or an Obama group, just as long as the right people are on it. By building it, you're not competing with a platform with millions of users, but for groups of hundreds.

Hosting it on the campaign site also weeds out the non-Obama groups you'd find at a Google or a Yahoo. This is useful to the user. And it directs people to locally based activism. That's smart.

The Weekly Standand, in detailing the Kennedy Khrushchev meeting, quotes NYT columnist James Reston who interviewed President Kennedy right after his meeting with Khrushchev,

"Reston reported that Kennedy said just enough for Reston to conclude that Khrushchev "had studied the events of the Bay of Pigs" and that he had "decided that he was dealing with an inexperienced young leader who could be intimidated and blackmailed." Kennedy said to Reston that Khrushchev had "just beat [the] hell out of me" and that he had presented Kennedy with a terrible problem: "If he thinks I'm inexperienced and have no guts, until we remove those ideas we won't get anywhere with him. So we have to act."

Kennedy responded to the meeting with a congressional request for a dramatic increase in defense spending, and a significant increase in the size of the military. Khrushchev responded to Kennedy's actions with above ground nuclear testing and erecting the Berlin Wall. The tensions between the US and Soviet Union dramatically increased due to the Kennedy Khrushchev meeting; the Cuban Missile Crisis followed.

Susan Rice's statement is simply false. There is no historical record of the Kennedy Khrushchev meeting being at all helpful in resolving the Cuban Missile Crisis and actually the exact opposite true that an inexperienced leader was bullied into an arms race.

From Global Labor and Global Economy comes the interesting question of how Barack Obama made his now famous connections.
"...The poeple linked to Senator Obama grew to political maturity in the extreme wings of the late 60s student and antiwar movements. They adopted some of the worst forms of sectarian and authoritarian politics. They helped undermine the emergence of a healthy relationship between students and others in American society who were becoming interested in alternative views of social, political and economic organization. In fact, at the time, some far more constructive activists had a hard time comprehending gorups like the Weather Underground. Their tactics were so damaging that some on the left thought that government or right wing elements helped create them. There is some evidence, in fact, that that was true (for example, the Cointelpro effort of the federal government.)

Today, however, many of these individuals continue to hold political views that hardened in that period. Many of them have joined up with other wings of the late 60s and 70s movements, in particular the pro-China maoists elements of that era and are now playing a role in the labor movement and elsewhere. Senator Obama yesterday in his statement about leaving his church said he did not joint the church for political reasons. This was my assumption because I found it hard to believe that he believed what his pastor was preaching. The idea that he didn’t know about the inflamatory remarks of his pastor is a very tough sell considering the numerous horrible statements he made throughout those twenty years Senator Obama was a member. So I ask ‘How many Jews go to Mass?, or ‘How many Baptists go to temple?’ because most people attend churches that support their faith.
